Lulú in Buenos Aires Sets New Standard with Funktion-One Sound System

A new chapter in Buenos Aires nightlife begins this weekend with the opening of Lulú, a 650-capacity club in the city’s Palermo district, which is home to a new Funktion-One sound system. Launching on 16 May with a headline set from Manu Desrets, Lulú represents the culmination of more than two decades of experience for venue owner Álvaro Perrota, whose vision for the project combines high-quality sound and thoughtful design.

“In a nightlife scene that never stops evolving, very few projects are born with an identity as clear and intentional as Lulú,” explained Perrota. “More than the opening of a new nightclub in the heart of Palermo, Lulú represents the realisation of a vision rooted in over two decades of experience in entertainment and club culture.”

At the heart of the venue is the Funktion-One system - chosen to deliver an engaging audience experience throughout the club’s different areas. The installation comprises a main room system of two Funktion-One Resolution 2 loudspeakers and two BR118.2 bass enclosures. The VIP section features two F101.2 loudspeakers with an SB12 bass enclosure, while the venue’s boxes are served by four F81.2 loudspeakers. In the table areas, four F61 loudspeakers are paired with an SB12 bass enclosure. The system is powered by a D100 DSP, two F60 and an F40 amplifier and controlled with an XTA DP448 processor.

“The aim was to deliver excellent sound pressure and definition on the dancefloor, while achieving sound coverage that disperses evenly and surrounds every corner of the venue,” said Funktion-One Argentina’s Andrés Zaina.

While the main room is designed for energy and impact, equal attention has been paid to the venue’s other areas. In the terraces, VIP and table sections, the system maintains the same clarity and definition thanks to the performance of the Funktion-One Compact Range, which delivers the same sonic characteristics as the larger format system. Even at lower levels the quality of these systems is very clear.

Perrota believes the venue will raise expectations for club sound in the Argentine capital. “With this system, we will be delivering a high-quality audio experience unlike anything previously heard in Buenos Aires,” explained Perrota. “It will represent a before and after for the nightlife scene in this city. That’s why Lulú chose Funktion-One, one of the most respected sound systems in global club culture. More than a just technical choice, it’s a statement of intent.”

The project also reflects a growing understanding of how important sound quality and hearing comfort are within club culture. “From the very first second they enter the venue, the audience is amazed,” said Perrota. “People dance, socialise and share moments with friends, and when they leave, many comment that they did not experience hearing fatigue. This is something very noticeable and it brings us great satisfaction.

With anticipation building ahead of opening weekend, Lulú aims to establish itself not as another nightclub, but as a new reference point for audio-conscious nightlife culture in Buenos Aires.
