CHURSCAIA - CAMARGUE - FRANCE

The Churascaia is a legendary Club in the South of France. Lost deep in the Camargue it has been open for 40 summers. It's a source of amazement to the uninitiated to drive through the dark for miles into the wilderness and find this packed club full of beautiful people.

The sound design was challenging because the room is circular with bars ocuppying 3/4 of the circumference, obviously there could be no dead areas and particular attention had to be paid to the focussing of the bass in order not to deafen the bar staff because the usual behavior of sound in a circular space is that the bass creeps round the walls. Arnaud Escassut , director of the "Chu" went through an exhaustive trial and demonstration process with many of the better rated manufacturers proposing their solutions through the course of summer 2002.
	Funktion One were the only ones to give an uncompromising result over the 1000 person dance-floor. The installation took place in April 2003 an subsequently the reliability of the system and its ability to continually please has made this installation one of the talking points of France. DJ Benji says "It's like Caviar". DJ David C. says "All of the guest Dj's that come to the Chu rave about the sound, we are over the moon". In fact it's the unique programming at the Chu that really puts the system to the Test. Star DJ Philppe Corti was instantly a fan, "I can go from pumping house to a fanfare with a flick of the cross-fade; and the people's ears don't suffer, it's the first system that I have ever seen that can do that".
The system is made up of 6 individually time aligned sound sources. The two main points on either side of the stage comprise 2 horizontally hung Res4S-C's and two F218's and enable us to put on bands with ease. The four further points are Res2U's carefully angled and focussed so that in some areas the sound is literally going over the barman's head and not preventing him from working.
A further pair of Res2's are used for DJ monitoring and are part of the success story because the mix conditions are some of the best imaginable. Thierry LaPorte , the in-house engineer enthuses about the system, "since day one we have not needed to make the slightest adjustment, change any settings and it has not required any maintenance at all. In fact the system sounded better and better from week to week as it got run in"

Amplification is by the Mc2 T series mainly composed of T2000's but with Bridged T1500's feeding the F218's The control of the system is with Funktion X01's
